Welcome back 16u Division!

SBR Girls Softball has decided not to waiver with the Dover league for the upcoming season. The 16u division (girls age 13 through 16 at the end of this year) will be playing spring softball at Malley Farm. All girls 16 years old and younger from the SBR district will register with our league this year. We are excited to have that age group back with us.

2015 Season Board Of Directors!

Thursday we will be having a meeting at the Somersworth Middle School Cafeteria to nominate candidates for board positions. The meeting will start at 6:30pm. We have a number of positions that need to be filled as we lost 5 board members this year and need to fill 5 other positions. If you have any interest, please come out and consider volunteering for the Board of Directors. It is a great way to get involved with the league.

If you are interested but cannot make the meeting please email the league and let us know. We will be taking nominations up to election night in September. I would love to have a full board going into next year as I believe it will be the best year yet. Please consider being a part of SBR Girls Softball helping to make this a great season for the girls!

Thank you!

SBR Girls Softball will be hosting the Babe Ruth 14u Division State Tournament. We are excited to be a part of the state tournament trail and welcome all teams to our fields starting on July 17th (if we have more than 10 teams) through the 20th. If your league has a 14u Tournament team that would like to attend the state tournament please send this form (click here) back to the address below with the registration fee of $350 before July 7th. Schedules will be posted as soon as I have the pool information and sent out to the coaches through email so that you can plan ahead. The fields are located in Somersworth NH. If you have gps or you use google maps you can type in 1 Malley Farm Rd Somersworth, NH 03878 and it should bring you right to the fields. If you need directions you can also click HERE and please contact the director if you have any questions. We hope to have a great turnout this year for our first time hosting a state tournament. Summer Sizzler and 14u States

First off the Summer Sizzler was a success this year. I would like to personally thank the volunteers that came out to help. It is a lot of work and the more help we get the less each of us has to do. Thank you to all those who worked the grill, ran the concession stand, scored a game, or maintained the fields. It is a lot of work to run a tournament and the more help we get the easier it is to run. If we are going to continue to have this tournament each year we need more help. Some of the volunteers were there for 12 plus hours both Saturday and Sunday! That is a lot of time and they should have been able to get away. This tournament brings in a lot of funds for the league that are used to better the experience for everyone and not just the girls playing in the field that weekend.

I want to thank all the teams that came to the tournament. You guys were great! I hope you all enjoyed the tournment and I hope to see you all next year. The championship game went 9 innings and was one of the best games I have seen. Litchfield was down in the bottom of the 6th 9-5 and was able to tie up the game. Neither team would scrore again until the top of the ninth when Rochester Slammers scored thier 10th run to go ahead of Litchfield Blast. Litchfield could not come back in the bottom of the ninth and the final score was 10 - 9 in a hard fought game! Thanks again to all the teams!

We now look forward to the 14u State tournament. We will again need volunteers for this weekend. I am asking any parents in the league to come out and see a couple of great games and help the league out. We have the opportunity to provide a great experience for up to 12 teams coming to Somersworth to play. Please let me know if you have even a couple hours to come out score a game, work the concession stand or grill some hotdogs and burgers. We have something for everyone to do.

Tournaments this year!!

SBR will be hosting multiple tournaments this year! First we have the 4th annual 10u Summer Sizzler. This is our first tournament and for the first time we will be hosting 10 teams this year. We are happy to invite the two new teams: Bedford Bulldogs and Salem Junior Blue Devils. We are hoping for good weather and an exciting tournament. Please check the 10u Sizzler link to the right for more information and schedules.

Our second tournament this year is going to be the 1st Annual 8u Summer Sizzler. It will be held on Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of June. We are hoping to bring in 8 teams this year for the tournament. It will be a great time for all. I have contacted some teams but hope to hear from more in the next couple of weeks. If you would like more information please check out the 8u Sizzler link to the right.

Finally we have be awarded the chance to host the 14u State tournament this year. The board members are very excited about the opportunity to have this state tournament on our home fields. This could be one of the most attended tournaments of the year and we are excited to have all the 14u teams. If local parents are willing to assist with the this tournament and get in touch with Jenn Fritz at concessions@somersworthyouthsoftball.org.

These tournaments help support the summer teams and help to support the league as a whole. Please come and watch some great games, lend a hand helping out and support your girls on the field. We will be using funds from these tournaments for field improvements all around.
